Description
This Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification has been developed to comply with CSA standards as well as the Alberta OHS. Students will participate in knowledge based training and complete their hand on practical evaluation on a scissor & boom lift.
After successfully finishing the course, students will be proficient in applying safe operation techniques in their roles as professional operators. They will receive a certificate valid for three years.
Topics Covered
- Legislation and standards as pertaining to elevated work platforms
- Necessary skills for achieving professional operator status
- Demonstrating proficiency in safely operating aerial lift devices
- Understanding and adhering to safety regulations and responsibilities applicable to aerial lift operations
- Conducting thorough walk-around inspections and performing preventive maintenance
- Exhibiting proficiency in various practical maneuvers and ensuring safe operational methods
- Demonstrating proper procedures for fall protection during aerial lift operations
- Understanding the responsibilities of the user in maintaining safety standards
- Evaluating and addressing hazards identified in different scenarios
- Recognizing the significance of a proactive safety attitude.
Training Certificate
Upon successful completion of the training program, you will receive a training certificate that is valid for 3 years issued by ABCS Safety Training.
Prerequisites
- Government issued photo ID
- Physically capable of wearing a fall protection harness.
- Participants must be prepared with their own PPE including: hardhat, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots
- We will provide the required fall protection PPE (i.e. harness and lanyard)
- A Scissor & Boom Lift Certification from any previous OSSA provider or other in-person accredited/recognized program. Online only certification do not qualify. The certificate must not be more than 180 days past the expiry date on the card.
Booking Policy
Life happens – we get it. Your seat is reserved exclusively for you, and we guarantee all courses run as scheduled.
Rescheduling requests require:
• 72 hours’ notice (courses under $200)
• 7 days’ notice (courses over $200)
Bookings made within these notice periods are final and cannot be changed. With proper notice, we may assist with rescheduling, course upgrades, or transferring your seat to another participant.

This Mobile Elevated Work Platform certification has been developed to comply with CSA standards as well as the Alberta OHS Regulation. Students will participate in knowledge based training, hands-on equipment, setup exercises, and address safe practices and procedures as specified in Regulations by the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Alberta.
The course requires 5 hours to complete.

Most likely. Your previous Scissor & Boom Lift certification needs to be more than 180 days past the expiry date on the card and your previous certification needs to be from any previous OSSA provider or legitimate course that include an in-person component. Only online certificates are not recognized and not valid for recertification.
